The Garden of the Finzi-Continis (also 1970 film by Vittorio De Sica), tells a tragic coming-of-age story in 1930s Italy. As Fascist anti-Semitic laws tighten, a wealthy Jewish family retreats into their walled, idyllic estate, living in denial of the coming Holocaust, while the narrator falls into a futile, unrequited love for the enigmatic Micol Finzi-Contini.
